Shooting book cover photography
Iva Tico is an Albanian journalist and writer. She has worked for different magazines and newspapers. She has also been a part of the judging panel in Dancing with the Stars Albania for four seasons, of talks shows and has also co-hosted popular television shows. Her latest work is her new book with stories and urban sketching “Për vete”. We worked together for her book’s cover photography.
As I heard Iva Tico talk about her book, ideas came running through my head about the photos and the book cover photography. While everybody says don’t judge a book by its cover, we all do and that is the reason why I wanted to capture some special photos. Cover art is important. It’s the first thing we see when we chose a book. Since the book was about real-life stories, about independent women, I thought the best scene for these photos was the street. A beautiful, free, strong woman walking down the street with a bridal dress. Since I have worked with Iva, I knew that she would like my idea. She posed so naturally and I took some amazing photos. “Për vete” is a compilation of stories, urban sketches, real and fiction stories. There you can read real-life stories of girls and women that are independent. Stories of all the girls and women who make it on their own. An inspirational book that every woman and girl should read. Reading through the lines of this book you can find commonality with Sex and the City. Girls and women who are successful and achieve everything they want because every woman can.
