Questions to Ask Your Maternity Photographer
Preparing to be a new mom is exciting and obviously while you are waiting for your little one, why not document it? Maternity photos are the best way to create memories and celebrate your new role in life. Deciding on having a maternity photoshoot may be a bit difficult but as a New York maternity photographer, I will help you. Before the photoshoot, there are a few questions that you have to ask your maternity photographer. As I have mentioned before, choosing the right photographer for your photoshoots is the key to some amazing pictures. But what should you ask your maternity photographer?
1. What experience do you have as a New York maternity photographer?
You really should go for someone who has done maternity photo sessions before. I know that there may be some new talents, or you may know someone whose passion is photography, but when it comes to maternity photos make sure you choose someone with experience. An experienced maternity photographer will guide you all the way and will make sure to create beautiful pregnancy pictures.
2. When should we schedule the maternity session?
Whenever you feel good and ready to have pregnancy pictures taken. But it’s always suggested that the best time to have maternity photoshoots is during the seventh month. It’s important to feel comfortable during the session, and you can move easily. And also your baby bump will be visibly and in a round shape. Of course, each maternity photographer has their own preferences.
3. Where will the session take place?
A lot of couples or women have already decided on the location when they book their photoshoot but it’s alright if you ask your maternity photographer whether you should do it outdoors or indoors. It all depends on the style or theme you choose for the maternity photo session.
4. What should I bring during the photoshoot?
This is a really important question. Some maternity photographers, like me, offer maternity outfits for photo shoots, but there may be others that don’t. You can choose different outfits for your session. But of course, even though we include maternity outfits in a photoshoot, you can also bring other outfits that you like. Every maternity photographer will suggest to you what to bring according to the theme that you choose or the style that you have.
5. Can my husband/ family be part of the photoshoot?
If you want your husband, children, or other family members to join your photo shoot, you should ask your photographer. For me, it’s not a problem if you want your husband or kids in your photo session. But when having little kids around, it may take a little more time to finish the photoshoot since they want to play around and explore new things in the studio or outdoors.
Maternity photos are special and a great gift for you, your baby, and other family members so you would want to plan the maternity session as perfectly as possible.
