The affect of Coronavirus in photography

What is Coronavirus Lockdown?

Coronavirus disease/COVID-19 is an infectious disease and the vaccine to prevent it has not been discovered yet. Coronavirus disease causes respiratory illness and its symptoms are cough, fever, breathing difficulties, loss of smell and taste. Since there’s currently no vaccine to prevent it, there are a few things we can do to protect ourselves and other people like washing our hands for at least 20 seconds, social distancing, staying at home to stay safe, etc. Coronavirus lockdown means that people cannot leave the area where they live. This is used as a security measure.

How does Coronavirus affect photography?

I’m really heartbroken about the world’s state right now. People from all over the world are suffering because of this disease. I have been staying at home for some weeks now and I’m working from home, but this lockdown causes a lot of problems for my work. It’s impossible for couples to go on with their wedding planning and photoshoot.

As a wedding photographer, I have to meet a lot of brides and grooms, their families and friends and this are against the government’s regulation due to the situation we are facing. Experts are talking every day about social distancing and meeting new people put us at great risk. I am a destination wedding photographer which means that I travel the world to photograph brides and grooms on their special day. Since the Coronavirus, the borders are closed and we can travel to other countries for a wedding photoshoot. An because of those reasons a lot of weddings and events are canceled this month. It makes me sad to know that there are couples who planned the whole wedding and have to cancel at the last minute, but as you may hope dies last. I’m really hoping that this situation will end soon and we will continue with our work.

But besides that, I cannot photograph in my studio either. There are a lot of clients who want photos, especially pregnant women. My main goal as a photographer is to make people happy and create unforgettable memories. Because of the situation, this cannot happen. But, I’m sure that when this is all over, we will continue with our lives and work and I will capture the most unique photos for everyone.

Please stay home, stay safe so this can be over soon.
